Gothic South London rapper Denzel Himself has just released a new single ‘count . cowboy deplorable’ with a video, following on from the release of the cathartic single 'Live A Lot'. The video is homemade and shot with a spooky black and white filter - the kind that could detect ghosts in a haunted house. The song is laid on foundations of a minimal trap-esque beat, with production that subtly echoes techno. As ever, Denzel’s rap is firm and eerie, contrasting with the stacked harmony that sings "I’m hiding", adding a newfound layer of fragility to Denzel’s sound. Check it out. -Ellie Rose-Davies
